ABOUT ME
I write what you need written, and if you’ve already written it, I’ll make it better.
That’s a simple run-down of what I can do for you. But effective writing is not simple, and erring on any one of countless complexities can silence your message.
If you put out a news release rife with typos and grammatical errors, your audience will wonder what else you get wrong. Or perhaps the copy in your bio is clean as a whistle yet impenetrable to readers due to industry jargon and acronyms.
My career has been dedicated to clear communication, which is having something to say then saying it well. Bring me on, and you’ll never be at a loss for words.

How I Got Here
Associated Press et al. | 1994 – 2009
Stories under my byline have been published across the world. But that’s not why you should hire me. You want me writing and editing your copy because it will be clean, tight, bright, and delivered quickly – skills honed during an award-winning career in journalism.
City of Tempe, Arizona | 2009 – 2015
After being on the receiving end of news pitches for 15 years, it was at City Hall where I learned communications strategies and tactics. I helped produce State of the City Addresses and was relied upon for crisis communications when we lost our lake. (It’s a long story.)
Em & M Communications | 2015 – Present
Now I’m using what I’ve learned over my career, as well as improving my skill set through certification as a technical writer, for the benefit of clients much like yourself. For you, I can dial in a strong signal then clean it of noise before amplifying. No matter the medium – be it web pages, speeches, wh, RFP responses, grant applications, annual reports, videos, SEO blog posts, or technical manuals – I’m ready to meet your communications needs.
